(Sydney, August 6): The 15th annual BayRun around Inner West’s stunning Iron Cove brought the community together in another successful event on Sunday.

Harry Summers took out first place in the Men’s Open with a time of 20:20, with Thomas Do Canto, coming in second but holding on to his 2016 Bay Run record time of 20:19.

“It’s my first BayRun. I’ll definitely be back next year,” said Harry. “BayRun is awesome. It’s a great spot, beautiful scenery.”

Competing in the BayRun for the third time was Lauren Reid, who won the Women’s Open in a time of 23:36.

Lauren said she’ll be back next year to compete in the BayRun event. “I love it, it’s my favourite.”

The Primary OSHCare 2km Primary School Challenge Boys division was once again won by Luca Gillard in 07:02, 17 seconds faster than his winning 2016 time.

Alexandra Field won the Girls division in 07:28.

The Team event was taken out by Pulse Performance Paceathletics in a combined time of 1:29:34.

The event is the most popular fun run in the Inner West with more than 2,000 runners and walkers participating every year. Popular comedian Gary Eck put his funny bones into action as emcee. As part of the awards presentation “The Garmin Man” Drew Willis presented activity trackers to Best Dressed male and female.

“The 2017 race was a spectacular success. We are grateful for the support from the local community, from our sponsors and all those who participated,” said Race Manager, James Millar.

The organising committee would like to thank the Sponsorship GOLD partners for BayRun 2017: Warwick Williams Real Estate, Canada Bay Club, Balmain Sports Medicine, Athlete’s Foot/Mizuno and The Inner West Courier plus SILVER sponsors Drummoyne Swimming Centre, Boobs on the Run, Urban Growth NSW and Primary OSHCare.

Once again CanTeen, a long-standing Bay Run charity partner, sold bandanas on the day to raise funds to help young people affected by cancer and their families.

Additional funds raised after the costs of organising the race go to Dobroyd Point Public School for facilities for the students.
